Yoga, Crystals & Tektites: How to combine Crystals & Yoga
Crystals are beautiful gem stones that come in many different colours and with many different healing properties, including emotional, mental and physical benefits. Each different stone has its own benefits, Amethyst, for example, is believed by some to be beneficial for the intestines, whereas green aventurine helps the heart.
In this article I want to share with you the benefits of using crystals during yoga and meditation. I will also share with you my personal favourite crystals to use specifically to help you with your yoga and mediation practice.
Yoga & Meditation
Both yoga and crystals are two different healing methods, but did you know that combining the two can be extremely powerful, trans-formative and healing practice.
Firstly, lets think about what makes our yoga and meditation practice powerful. Personally for me, mental clarity is number one challenge when it comes to yoga and meditation. Yoga is an all-round practice of the mind-body dualism along with attainment of spiritual peace. Similarly, meditation can be called food for the mind.
Yoga is the science of bringing a person to Union with the truth of their divine origin, realizing that there is no separation between you and God or Source. Meditation is a tool used in yoga, and other spiritual practices, to discover this Union within.
Meditation expands awareness, and that awareness is used to heal the mind and heart. Once you have attuned your mind and body you can channel this practice and becoming familiar with all the parts of you that are felt but not seen, learning how to recognize, control and strengthen them, and finally use them all together, in harmony, to achieve the deepest desires of your heart.
Meditation is a way out of the world that isn’t working and into your inner world that needs healing and attention, but already holds the map to fulfilling your most passionate longings.
You can view yoga as moving meditation, the two actually share a lot in common. Both yoga and meditation require concentration and mental clarity. Ability to become aware be present, turn inward, in other words, working our third eye chakra, which is is responsible for the link between our mind and the outer world, embodying your ability to see both the inner and outer worlds.
Ultimately, both in their separate ways are aiming at keeping you fit and satisfied with yourself. Both also aim to align you chakras but especially your heart, third eye and crown.
Crystals for Yoga & Meditation
There are plenty of crystals but today I will share with you my personal favourites, specifically for yoga and meditation.
Moldavite
Moldavite is a definite and powerful Chakra opener and activator, particularly resonating with the Heart, 3rd Eye, and Crown Chakras. All three chakras are super active and crucial during yoga & meditation.
It helps in cleansing the energy and acts as a spiritual protector. It also integrates the mind and heart, to work together and bring about the best results. It is said that moldavite will spiritualize and energize the powers of other stones like amethyst & charoite, when worn together.
Cintamani (Saffordite)
It is believed that if one owns a Cintamani, he will reach a higher state of being – a place where he will be above all. There have been ample comparisons between Cintamani, Philosopher’s Stone and the Holy Grail just for this reason. In fact there have been many theories that state that these three things are one and the same. It is believed that whoever have possessed even a small portion of Cintamani has ruled the world, attained an almost immortal state.
Libyan Desert Glass
Libyan Desert Glass is also called Libyan Gold Tektite. These unusual stones embody within them the vibration of the Golden ray, a powerful spiritual energy. Increase sales and profits in your business. Creates good luck, aids learning, especially spiritual pursuits.
Libyan Desert Glass aids spiritual grounding, by taking excess spiritual energy down to the Earth Star Chakra for grounding. Although it has a strong resonance within the solar plexus chakra, this stones energy is potent within all of the chakras.
Since this stone is excellent for grounding I would use this towards the end of your yoga and mediation practice.
How incorporate your crystals to your practice
Holding crystals or placing them on your body is thought to promote physical, emotional and spiritual healing. They do this by positively interacting with your body's energy field, or chakra. Below are some suggestion how to incorporate crystals in your practice.
- During meditation you can simply place it on your palms, or body when lying down, on different chakra points you want to activate
- Place your crystal(s) around your yoga mat or meditation cushion, altar or on the windowsill of your yoga space
- As you hold a pose, meditate on a single stone and the meaning it represents
- Place one or more crystals on your body during shavasana. The forehead, palms, heart, and belly are all receptive places to gently place stones for healing
- Hold your crystals gently in your hands and set your intentions or ask your crystals a question, before your practice
